  1. Xcom isn’t an RTS it’s a TBS. Do you even play games?

  4. Yeah I don’t know how credible this review is when the author hasn’t played the original game and doesn’t know the difference between an RTS and a TBS.

  5. Xcom is not a RTS but a turn based strategy game. This difference is huge. Real time is about the rapid management of trips and resources, whereas turn based strategy is more chesslike. …you can think through every move and have to employ deeper strategy. This is what makes xcom so fun. RTS is notoriously bad on console, however turn based and xcom in particular can be great. Really looking forward to the game.

  6. Sorry for the confusion in the article, seeing as I don’t play these things very often (strategy games) I tend to lump them all into one big bucket, and saying that I genuinely did expect XCOM to be an RTS. Still, my points and experience with the title still stand – and they are all extremely positive.

I’m not sure what turn based games I’ve ever played on a console really, obviously Final Fantasy and various other RPGs, but that’s not the same ballpark really.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  7. It’s a preview ;)
Review will be coming over the next few days – and will be written by a long-term fan of the series and genre, so don’t worry about that ;)
