I’m not sure why you think that, but while Doom 3 may appeal to fans of the ‘old school’ style of FPS, that’s about all it manages to do as it offers little to no connection with the environment you populate. I’m not saying CoD does it any better, but that – at least – feels nicer to play. I really enjoyed Doom 3 when it originally launched, but the FPS genre has moved on in leaps and bounds since then and this only makes the gap even more evident.
