  2. I will agree Metroid Prime is a great game and I wanted to get it on the list but I honestly didn’t know what I would of got rid of that’s why I did the Honorable Mentions at the bottom. Also I beleive Halo is quite high up on the list, Some people may of expected Half Life 2 to be higher but I didn’t really think it should be higher then what was above it but that’s just my opinion everyone has their own :)

  3. You said each platform has its exclusive fps but you should change that, since there are multiple exclusives that are fps games that are great as well. For the current generation, Nintendo has Metroid, Goldeneye (new one for Wii), and The Conduit. Sony has Killzone, Resistance, and MAG, and Microsoft has, unfortunately, just Halo. Halo is awesome but Microsoft really needed and needs to step their 1st party lineup up.

I agree with most of this list, although didn’t play TimeSplitters. For me, the classics are Goldeneye and Cod4. People hate on Cod (including me, but I hate the latest games not every game), but Cod4 was just awesome. When you talk about perks and killstreaks ppl get upset but Cod4 had them perfect (besides martydom lol), and unfortunately label all the balancing issues in MW2 & BO with all Cods. The reason why Cod is popular and people are drones and won’t play anything else is because of the success of Cod4, yet they extremely failed in my book to ever get close to Cod4, people still just keep sticking to Cod.

The only Cod I play now is Cod4. And in my book would be the top fps of all time if it had dedicated servers and not an evil ass publisher who lets it be hacked. It still is my favorite game of this generation, beating Uncharted 2 and others, and pretty much truly made me into a gamer.

  5. Where’s Metroid Prime?!
I know it’s more of an adventure game but I still consider it a FPS and it’s actually my favorite FPS of all time. It’s not that different from HL2, tbh.

  6. The main unreal series not the tournament series surely deserves to be on that list of the top 10 fps games of all time because the main unreal series was a major contribution to gaming & has stood the test of time & is still being used today by studios!

  7. Please god, don’t tell me you put CoD4 ahead of Half-Life and Halo. What a joke.

  8. As I said already there were games such as Metroid Prime and CounterStrile which I really did want to get on the list but if I had put the two of them on I wouldn’t know what to of removed. Also I did not mean to say the Unreal Tournement series in the honorable mentions that was a mistake and I meant to say the whole series. Top 10 lists never please everyone there just someones opinion and we all have a different opinion :)

  9. Excellent list. I have yet to play Time Splitter game but this article has deff made me want it bad. Killzone 2 was pivotal for me, and Halo is awesome in the way only Halo can be Halo, it’s a signature of itself and rocks. CoD is always good and I am considering grabbn Bioshock 1 & 2 soon before number 3 comes out.

  14. Nice to see some people agree with the list espically nice to see that you agree that Timesplitters is amazing :) it really is an amazing game and I agree that we need Timesplitters 4 or at least HD remakes with online support added.

  15. I really enjoyed Killzone 2 it’s one of my favorite PS3 FPS games and it’s one game I wanted to get on the list but there’s just so many amazing FPS games that narrowing it down to 10 is pretty hard, that’s why I did a Honorable Mentions at the bottom to show that some other games including KIllzone 2 were also great :)

  16. where is RED FACTION 1 and 2 ??

    Comment by jeski — July 11, 2011 @ 10:11 pm

  17. MW2 is crap compared to CoD 4. CoD 4 had story, intense and amazing missions (ghillies in the mist anyone?) and was just fantastic. MW2 was just a straight up linear shooter where you just mowed down oncoming enemies and nothing much really happened… the story was just a hollywood blockbuster rather than a thought provoking issue and look at what war has really become.

  18. Not a bad list there. Although I agree with some of the games on the list, I’m not completely taken by the order =P Its your opinion though and thats more than fair enough =]

The thing that annoys me the most about this article is this comments section… People have mentioned shooters or third person shooters, why would they be on a FPS list? And those sounding like they are attacking for someones opinion, hardly fair…

Anyway nice list, nice article and some really good reasons for why you placed them in that order =]

  19. Hello what about combat arms, mw2, and cod wow

    Comment by james — July 13, 2011 @ 7:21 am

  20. I said at the top that I tried to only put one game from a series in to not fill up the list with the likes of Battlefield, Cod etc, I choose Cod4 because it’s the best Call Of Duty to date.

  21. Cmon ppl we all know Killzone rocks da most and is the best fps in terms of gplay.

  22. great article, there are a lot of good games on this list and for the most part i agree with you… FPS are always great games to play if you get the right mix :D

    Comment by Ryan.p — July 17, 2011 @ 10:14 am

  23. Oh, I fully believe that Timesplitters 2 deserves the #1 spot. It’s probably the deepest and most enjoyable multiplayer game ever created.

Killzone 2 is definitely a great mention: it takes the squad-based shooter and adds more strategic elements into the genre through multi-modal games- best of seven rounds wins!

    I’ll also give a tip-off to Team Fortress 2…
