I get started on some Lords of the Fallen. Being new to these sort of difficult games, ...
In keeping with the current trend of big names leaving big businesses, Epic Games president Mike Capps is stepping down from his position and “transitioning” into an advisory role for the company. He also plans to remain on Epic’s board of directors.
The news comes from Epic Games’ blog as Capps went into the reasons behind his decision to step back from his high-profile role. They are rather valid reasons too as he’s going to become a father soon.
“If you haven’t heard,” writes Capps, “I have a baby boy on the way. I’m fortunate that with Epic’s success and generosity, I can be a stay at home dad for a while.”
“My wife Julianne and I are very happy in Raleigh, and other than cleaning up baby barf, I don’t have much planned. I might do some teaching, spend more time on creative writing, and maybe get more active with a few charities.”
His love for the company, along with gentle persuasion from Epic founder and CEO Tim Sweeny, means that he won’t be leaving the company completely.
“After dedicating a decade of my life to Epic, and with so many close friends here, it’s impossible to just walk away. I absolutely love this company. If you cut me, I think I probably bleed nanoblack and Imulsion.
“Epic founder and CEO Tim Sweeney and other board members asked me to stay on the board, and I’m thrilled to do so as I’m truly excited about our future games and Unreal Engine 4.”
Now Epic have lost Cliff Bleszinski, and Mike Capps is taking a step back, it’ll be interesting to see how things will come together on future projects.
