That crowdsourced ‘hackable’ free-to-play Android based console Ouya has finally completed its prototyping phase and is now setting off to be engineered.

It appears that everything is on schedule for the project, meaning that an end of year release for developers and consumers is still on the cards. According to the Ouya blog, the console’s first run of printed circuit boards have gone through and its now gone onto testing the controller and console.

Nicely they’ve also updated the Android firmware to 4.2 which should ensure that the hardware is as up-to-date when it launches at the end of December.
