Black Ops II is right around the corner and there has been some talk of the Playstation 3 version requiring a texture pack install for smoother running and less disc spinning on Sony’s platform.

The optional install is small in size but is worth mentioning only because previous Call Of Duty titles on the platform did not require any kind of install. Black Ops II will allow those who want to take advantage of the featured texture pack install to download 1.8 gigs into their hard drive for smoother running. This size is also slightly larger than the 1.5 Gig install featured in last years competitive release Battlefield 3 which also had a texture pack install. This option will be available in both multiplayer and zombie menus allowing us to safely assume it is for the online and thus allowing it to run smoother, with less load times.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is set to release on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC on November 13th. Wii U release is set for November 18th in North America and November 30th in Europe.
