It seems that Capcom may have gone back on its word a little and have put DLC on-disk for Resident Evil 6.
According to Destructioid modders have cracked the disc code and found that there is DLC hidden on the disc waiting to be unlocked via a key patch. An extra difficulty mode, costumes, melee attacks and taunts are all found tucked away in files. In fairness though the new ‘No Hope’ difficulty mode is only partially on the disc.
It’s assumed that these will all be unlocked by DLC from Capcom; and so the company have responded by saying that “virtually” all upcoming DLC won’t be on disc. They have admitted that, “For technical reasons,” one bit of content “requires the use of a combination of newly downloaded data and data that is included on the retail game disc.”
Only time will tell how the other content will be unlocked, it is believed that they could be via Residentevil.net unlocks but until DLC rolls out we won’t know.
At the Eurogamer Expo it was revealed that upcoming DmC will adhere to Capcom’s promise of not including DLC on disc – perhaps Resident Evil 6 was just too late into development to avoid it?
