It seems that the long-promised mod tools for id’s Rage are finally coming.

Having been promised to ship with the retail release for the post-apocalyptic shooter-cum-racer over a year ago, John Carmack has promised that they’ll be arriving soon now id is done with work on Doom 3: BFG Edition.

It seems that the Doom 3 project pushed Rage‘s mod tools aside.

Carmack expressed his frustration in a tweet, and admitted that him and the team had made a mistake on doing such a thing.

“BFG work pushed the Rage tools, but Real Soon Now. I hope. Sigh. I think we have made poor decisions on this all year,” Carmack said.

It’s probably too little too late for the game, but seeing as many may have picked it up for free with Game’s promotion on Doom 3: BFG Edition, it could well be thriving when it launches.
