Another day, another rumour around the iPad Mini. This time it’s claimed that Asian factories have begun manufacturing the long-rumoured device.
Reported by The Wall Street Journal, the device apparently has a 7.85″ display with a resolution that is lower than that of the Retina Display iPad 3 – it’s actual resolution is not known.
Images of the device appeared last month, and show that it’s form factor will place it in direct competition with the Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7.
Fortune also reports that an unnamed source claims press invites will be sent out on October 10th for an October 17th reveal of the iPad mini – with a November 2nd release date.

It would be absolutely obsurd for Apple not to make this. If it’s released for just shy of £200 (which seems like a long shot for Apple) they’ll sell these things like hotcakes.
We all know iOS devices sell for their looks, people see them as fashion objects now. A cheaper way to grab one at the price of a Kindle Fire or Nexus 7 will be the headline factor propelling into probably more sales than the 10.1″ iPad itself.
