The first of four major DLC expansion for Gearbox Studio’s cel-shaded shooter Borderlands 2 has been announced, and it involves an awful lot of booty.
Entitled Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, and set for release on October 16th, the new expansion is set amid an expansive desert with a bandit-filled shanty town called Oasis where the one-eyed pirate queen Captain Scarlett resides.
You’ll be battle new enemies – such as sand worms – as well as exploring the dunes in the new sand skiff vehicle, and collecting the new currency known as seraph crystals.
“You can sense the pirate theme across the landscape, even though there’s no water,” said Gearbox president Randy Pitchford in an interview with the Associated Press. “It’s all dried up. It feels more like Tatooine than an ocean. These bandits have really embraced the pirate lifestyle, and there’s the legend of a treasure. That kicks off this whole adventure that the players can go on.”
Pitchford also says that the new campaign will be suitable for all players, allowing anyone to explore the DLC regardless of their level and abilities.
Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty will cost $9.99 (~£7) when it releases next week. It’s ‘free’ if you’ve already purchased a $29.99 (~£19) season pass though.

Why is no-one reporting the widespread freezing issues with Borderlands 2? Talk of no fix for weeks as well.
