UPDATE: It appears that the Western release of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for Xbox 360 is still going ahead as planned.
According to Eurogamer, a Konami representative confirmed to them that it will “definitely” still release on PS3 and Xbox 360 in the US and Europe.
It is still not known why the Japanese 360 release has been canned.
Below is the original article about it being cancelled in Japan.
ORIGINAL: Metal Gear Solid has always been a Sony exclusive series, that is until the release of the HD Collection. With the release of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance it looked like Kojima Productions series was about to go multiplatform once again, but a new announcement from Konami suggests that might be scuppered.
According to a post on Konami’s website, which has been typically badly translated by Google Translate, the Japanese release of Revengeance on Xbox 360 has been cancelled “due to various reasons.”
This could be due to the smaller userbase in Japan of the console, or it could be a part of something a little grander, meaning it may not see release in the west on Xbox 360 too.
During Gamescom 2012 all the demo units for Revengeance were PS3′s which could suggest that Konami are placing all their efforts into that build instead.
Only time will tell.
