The developer behind The Chronicles of Riddick titles and EAs Syndicate reboot, Starbreeze Studios has signed a two-game deal to publish with 505 Games.
The deal means that Starbreeze will be developing the previously announced Payday 2 and P13 (working title) while 505 handle the publishing for them.
Both titles are to be digital only releases, just like the original Payday: The Heist was intended to be. Payday 2 is a sequel to the PS3 shooter, and P13 is described as an action-adventure that’s being developed in conjunction with Fares.
“Our partnership with Starbreeze Studios is a testament to 505 Games’ commitment to working with top development talent,” said 505 Games’ North American president Ian Howe.
“In addition to working with an amazing studio we are also honoured to partner acclaimed Swedish film director Josef Fares whose creative genius is bringing P13 to life.”
According to Starbreeze CEO and president Mikael Nermark, the studio joined up with 505 games because they provided something a “traditional publisher” couldn’t. “When we started to plan the next steps for Starbreeze we wanted to find a partner, not just a traditional publisher, and 505 Games fit that criteria. We feel that this collaboration can grow into a long-term partnership.”
It’ll be interesting to see how these games turn out, and to hear more on P13 as time goes by.
