Today PopCap Games announced that they would be bringing an update to the iOS version of Plants Vs. Zombies.

This new and significant update is available for free to existing subscribers, and also allows for in-app purchases to unlock more special game packs and premium content. The main aspect of the update however is the raft of additions, including five new levels in the new Last Stand Endless mode, which only grants you a limited amount of sun. You can also whack zombies better than before with the Hammer Time, Still Standing and Stuff of Legends achievements.

The Last Stand game pack comes at a cost of 69p (or 100,000 coins) and brings in that aforementioned variant on the classic Endless mode. A Mallet Pack is also available to help smack those zombies, and is available from Crazy Dave’s shop.

The update will also bring with it full Retina Display support for the iPad, and three new achievements - bumping the count up to 48 on iPad and 47 on iPhone.

An in game menu to the PvZ store has also been added so you can grab all the merchandise you want, right from the game.
