Rumours surrounding the next iPhone have been rife for absolutely ages. Images were released of what it’d probably look like, and endless speculation of what it’s specifications would be were popping up everywhere.

Finally though, the monkeys working that rumour mill can quieten down for a week or so as apple gear up to announce what everybody is expecting to be the iPhone 5 on September 12th.

An invite to a media only event has been sent out by Apple, via IGN, with the words “It’s almost here” emblazoned across the top. With the September 12th date looming over and casting a shadow of the number 5 – thus leaving it to nobody’s imagination as to what this announcement will be all about.
