After a very successful Kickstarter effort, LGBT gaming convention Gaymercon has received official backing from heavyweight publisher EA.
Designed to be a friendly and safe environment for the LGBT community, Gaymercon broke it’s target of $25k with ease and has now gained the support of EA for its event.
EA aren’t a company to shy away from issues of LGBT, regularly having to deal with small-minded individuals who berated the company for its inclusion of homosexual relationships within its games.
EA global diversity and inclusion boss Ginger Maseda stated: “EA believes that to be truly innovative, you must be inclusive. We are proud to be a part of this event.”
“EA not only publishes some of the best games in the world, but they’re the most progressive company in the industry,” added Gaymercon’s industry relations director Jack DeVries. “We’re thrilled and honoured to have them involved in GaymerCon.”
No specific titles have been announced as of yet, but EA will be showing various titles during the event.
Gaymercon will take place between August 3rd-4th 2013.
