We may have all let out a collective sigh when Sony trotted their rather sickening kid testers out onto the E3 stage to partake in demoing Wonderbook, but you must admit that it’s a pretty interesting prospect – even if it isn’t aimed at you or doesn’t satisfy the itch to shoot things.
Even if the likes of JK Rowling’s Book of Spells game isn’t of interest, then maybe a look at the grittier world of Diggs Nightcrawler could be of interest as it turns the nursery rhyme of Humpty Dumpty into a noir based thriller – although it seems a little dark for kids.
The most interesting thing, though – for both families and Sony – is the addition of support from both the BBC and Disney. While nothing has been announced about the latter, the former will be bringing their groundbreaking Walking With Dinosaurs series to the Wonderbook, allowing for readers to fully immerse themselves in the world of dinosaurs.
Obviously the potential of the device is incredible, offering ways to educate that go beyond the traditional, and can hopefully give a tactile understanding of how things work.
