The world of Final Fantasy XIII seems to be going on forever, with the latest entry in the series already spanning two separate retail releases along with a raft of DLC.
Speaking in this weeks Famitsu magazine, and reported by Gaming Everything, Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase gave a brief update on Square-Enix’s next Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Saga project ahead of their planned announcement in September.
Kitase let everyone know that this mysterious new entry – which will most likely turn out to be a Final Fantasy XIII-3 - is now started in its development stages.
The final name of the the project will be unveiled at the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary event in Japan on September 1st during a wonderfully named Final Fantasy XIII Lighting Saga New Developments Presentation.
Many Final Fantasy fans were hoping that this would be a Versus XIII related announcement, alas that now seems unlikely.
