Only last month did popular ARMA zombie mod creator, Dean “Rocket” Hall, tell us that it was only a question of when his smash hit survival mod, DayZ would move the move to an independant title. That time is now!
Mr. Hall assured us that if he didn’t do it, somebody else will. While only in the early stages of development Bohemia Interactive (the developers of ARMA) today announced their plans to shed DayZ of its mod chains and release it as a standalone game free of any ties to the ARMA franchise.
Dean Hall has already announced himself as the producer of the project and has assured players that support for the mod would continue alongside the development of the standalone version to save those who have already paid to play the game.
No release window has been mentioned yet, but rest assured the project is due to adopt a development cycle similar to Minecraft allowing early adopters access to the each build version at a single discounted price.
It was only yesterday that a million active and unique users had been clocked in the mod.
