Fight stick enthusiasts will be pleased to know that Sony’s upcoming Super Smash Bros. styled brawler Playstation All Stars Battle Royale will support “all popular” arcade stick peripherals.
An update on the game’s Facebook Page reads:
“Fans of the fighting game genre can use their favourite arcade-style controller to play Battle Royale to full effect,” SuperBot said. “Every attack, combo, and strategy that can be performed on the DualShock 3 controller is seamlessly mapped to arcade button layouts.
“By default, nearly all DualShock 3 controller commands are assigned to the same buttons on an arcade stick. The joystick takes care of the character’s movement and combines with the Square, Triangle, and Circle buttons to perform the full range of 24 unique attacks.
“In fact, joystick inputs behave exactly the same as DualShock 3 D-pad inputs would, so arcade stick functionality is natively supported in PlayStation All-Stars.”
Throws are supported by fight sticks too, despite them being executed on the DualShock 3 pad with the right stick. SuperBot Entertainment say that you can execute throws with “and easy button combination” that’s familiar to many fighting games – X and Square a la SoulCalibur, Tekken, and almost every fighting game under the sun perhaps?
We’re assuming the PS Vita version doesn’t support an arcade stick.
