Could we see the next Xbox before 2014? A new job advertisement suggests that this could well be the case.
A job vacancy for a senior role at Microsoft’s entertainment division has been spotted by CVG and has suggested that the next generation of Xbox could well see the light of day before 2014.
Asking for a central marketing group director, the job ad says that “over the next eighteen months Microsoft will release new versions of all our most significant products including Windows (Client, Server, Phone and Azure), Office and Xbox, along with completely new offerings like Microsoft Surface.”
Going by this statement, that means that the new Xbox would see a release before 2014, potentially placing it at Christmas 2013.
Such timescale would fit with the claims from sources that development kits were sent out to third-party studios at the beginning of this year, with MS studios having had access to it for a little while longer.
This isn’t the first time that news has arrived about a potential Xbox successor as one Microsoft employee let it slip a “new Xbox” was on the way – however Microsoft denied the claims and said it was a misinterpreted phrase instead.
Either way, things are gearing up.
