As revealed during Sony’s E3 press conference, the PlayStation Vita will be getting support for playing PS One classics.
Coming packaged in the Vita’s 1.8 firmware update, you’ll finally be able to play Final Fantasy VII on the go, or indeed any number of PS One games you already own on the PS network – it is unclear if all games work instantly or things will be drip fed out.
Set to arrive this summer, as Eurogamer reports, the 1.8 firmware will be compulsory - unlike the current firmware update 1.69
The PS Classics service has been available on the PS3 for quite some time, it allows you to download PS1 and PS2 games, however only PS1 games seem to be compatible for the PS Vita. Perhaps PS2 games will eventually make the jump too?
