It’s been a while since we heard anything concrete or promising from the Final Fantasy Versus XIII project, however reports are suggesting that it has unfortunately been canned.
The most promising looking Final Fantasy title in years has apparently been cancelled according to Kotaku’s sources at Square-Enix.
No public statement has been made as Square-Enix fear it would effect their stock prices, however the cancellation came within the last week according to reports.
Not all hope is lost though as assets have been transferred across to Final Fantasy XV
Announced back in 2006, it’s been six years since we’ve heard more than a whisper about the project, so it isn’t the biggest surprise around – however that doesn’t make it easier to stomach.
More details may arise when Square-Enix hold their “Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Saga: New Developments Presentation” on the 1st September.
