After the numerous rumours about a PS3 ‘Super Slim’ being developed, it has been confirmed by Sony that the console does in fact exist.
Confirmed to MCV by Sony, the CECH-4000 model PS3 does exist but won’t be getting a public showing at Gamescom this year as rumours suggested.
The unit wont be being shown due to “high stock levels” of the PS3 slim in retail.
The ‘Super Slim’ PS3 is rumoured to come with a 16GB flash memory and a top loading drive – similar to the PS2 slim model. It’s also rumoured to retail under £100.
Larger models will cost more, and the top tier capacity of 500GB could well be under £200 – placing it in a competitive position as the Xbox 360 4GB console is £139.99.
