Last week a trailer emerged for Gamescom 2012 and it suggested that Grand Theft Auto V could make an appearance at the August event based in Cologne, Germany.
Whilst the news is still unconfirmed, a LinkedIn profile suggests that we could be seeing GTA V at the event, and that we could also see a few other high profile titles too.
The LinkedIn profile was picked up by a NeoGAF user and while the list mentions mostly high profile and expected titles, a couple of curveballs are thrown in.
Currently working for the Gamescom 2012 August 15 to 21 in Cologne.
I suppervise programs for:
Activision Blizzard – Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2 PC, 360, PS3 and World of Warcraft expansion (from 3 months)
Konami – Metal Gear® Rising: Revengence (ongoing)
Electronic Arts – Medal of Honor Warfighter ™, Crysis ® 3 and Need for Speed ??™ Most Wanted (3 months) PC, 360, PS3
Rockstar games – Grand Theft Auto V and Table Tennis Tournament 2 – (4 months) PC, 360, PS3
Arenanet – Guild Wars® 3 (in progress) PC, 360, PS3
Valve – Coming Soon (in progress)
Ubisoft – Assassin’s Creed 3 (for 5 months) PC; 360, PS3
Reef Entertainment – Coming Soon (2 months)
Honestly though it seems that these are probably aren’t the expected line up, and that this Gerald Bauser doesn’t even exist and is instead a fanboy creation to ‘troll’ the internet.
Key clues can be found in the various spelling and grammar mistakes, along with the fact that they mention “Guild Wars 3″ being shown, despite the fact that Guild Wars 2 hasn’t even launched yet. A mention of Valve showing something also raises eyebrows, and the fact that he mentions Reef Entertainment’s coming soon – instead of mentioning it’s Rambo: The Video Game which has been announced.
A quick look at the profile also suggests it’s a fake as he has zero connections on LinkedIn – something that a man in such a position at Gamescom just wouldn’t have – he also goes into no detail about previous roles, and doesn’t have a profile image.
