Yesterday tech website Mashable were offered an invite to an invite-only press event in LA held by Microsoft.
Nobody knew what was going on, what the announcement could be about, nor why they stated that it’d be “a major Microsoft announcement” that we “will not want to miss.”
Thoughts surrounding some sort of gaming tech were debunked as E3 was two weeks ago, and so that would have been an ample time to reveal a new console. We already know practically everything surrounding Windows 8, and if it was to be a Windows 8 Mobile announcement that hardly seems major enough to warrant such an event.
Well, thanks to a rumour from The Wrap, and backed up by All Things D (both via CVG) Microsoft have set their targets at Apple and Amazon, and are set to unveil a tablet computer device that’ll smash them both out of the water.
On Monday 18th June, Microsoft will unveil the tablet, which is set to run a modified version of Windows 8, known as Windows RT, that’ll supposedly run on ARM microprocessors.
Interestingly, Microsoft announced ‘Smart Glass’ during their E3 presentation, and so the reveal of a exclusive Windows tablet means that it would surely be the first port of call for Smart Glass enthusiasts.
