Whilst Naughty Dog’s impressive The Last of Us will be getting an online multiplayer component, it has been revealed that it definitely wont be a co-op campaign.
Whilst this post-apocalyptic action-adventure game is all about companionship and working together, the games story will remain solely single-player. The online component however wont be a co-op experience, at least not one that sees you and a friend filling the shoes of Joel and Ellie.
Speaking to Gaming Examiner (via. Shack) The Last of Us game director Neil Druckmann said: “We are supporting multiplayer with The Last of Us. However, we can say that it is not co-op within the main campaign.”
This doesn’t rule out a co-op mode focusing on two other survivors, or indeed integrating a survival horde-like mode. With the games lack of regenerating health and limited ammunition an competitive mode could also make waves online.
