Whilst the Sony E3 Press Conference was jam packed with some impressive titles, there was one game that was suspiciously absent from the proceedings.
Team ICOs long developed The Last Guardian wasn’t on show on Monday evening’s show but it appears that due to “technical difficulties” the game wasn’t shown.
Sony Worldwide president Shuhei Yoshida went on to say to Eurogamer that the team in Tokyo is “working hard, and there are some technical difficulties that the team is focused on right now. That’s why we don’t have an update.”
It seems that since The Last Guardian‘s designer Fumito Ueda left Sony in December problems have been arising as the project has made “slow progress,” even requiring help from Sony’s studios around the world.
Yoshida also stressed that it is still a PS3 game, debunking the rumours that it would launch on the PS4 instead:
“What does that question mean [is it still a PS3 game]? It is a PS3 game.”
When asked if it’ll never see the light of day, Yoshida seemed worryingly uncertain of the title’s future:
“When we have confidence in saying that, we will talk about it,” he answered. “But today, we are working through some engineering effort.”
