Moments ago at the EA conference at E3 developers of the game, Dead Space 3, confirmed that there will indeed be a co-op mode.

The gameplay which we got to see included everything from plasma guns, to drill monsters to a load of swearing. Trust us, there was A LOT of swearing.

The game, which looked amazing, has been confirmed for a release in February of 2013.
