“Houston, we have a bloblem,” are the words that accompanied the latest news about SolaRola.

The award-winning, physics-based puzzle platformer is coming to iOS and Android in the near future, says Square-Enix. It’s been fully redeveloped to offer players brand new cartoon-style graphics and accompanying storyline. There’s also a touch and tilt-based control system.

While originally launched on Java in 2007, SolaRola is one of the few games to have secured a perfect 10 score and a Platinum Award from Pocket Gamer.

Wiz and Waz are the stars of SolaRola, the game’s “blob-like gung-ho duo” who’ve been set to the duty of saving the galaxy. They’ll use whatever is at hand to accomplish their goal while continually undermining the evil plans of Ping the Unmerciless, and set free the four guardians of SolaRola’s world. You’ll face ill-placed obstacles (including – but by no means limited to – bombs, volcanic worlds, trampolines and slime) and you’ll have to use them to advance, making your way around the patrolling guards. It’s up to you to help Wiz and Waz save the world.
