Speaking to press at GDC yesterday, Epic Games revealed that they would like to publicly show off the next Unreal Engine technology later this year.

This new technology will likely power games on the next generation of consoles and so understandably this years GDC had it under lock and key. That decision for non-disclosure agreements and locked doors however wasn’t Epic Games’ decision.

Speaking to CVG Epic’s Vice President Mark Rein said he expects the next-generation of consoles to “blow us all away” but he also said that the studio behind the Unreal Engine are “constantly pushing” platform holders for more advanced hardware.

“There’s no end in sight for what we can do with unlimited technology. So we’re always going to be pushing and I’m sure we’ll be pushing for more than is possible to give.”
