BioWare have confirmed that there will be no more Mass Effect 3 N7 Collectors Editions being made.
The £70 collectors edition is sold out in many US retailers, but can be still purchased in some UK ones with a bit of trawling.
Huge US retailer Amazon.com have run out of pre-orders, and have left this note on the Xbox 360 product page:
“Due to high demand (and possibly the imminent Reaper invasion), we have unfortunately run out of our pre-order allocation for Mass Effect 3 – Collector’s Edition for Xbox 360.
“We are looking to secure additional allocation from the publisher and will update this page if that occurs. Please note – if you have already pre-ordered this edition – do not cancel as you may not be able to re-order.”
Despite angry fans taking to the BioWare forums to urge for more pre-order stock, BioWare have come out to say that gamers should have pre-ordered months ago as they advised.
“Sorry, there simply cannot be any more physical CEs made before launch,” wrote BioWare community coordinator Chris Priestly.
“The items included in the physical edition cannot be made in time for launch. Sorry, it will not happen. This is why, back in November, I started warning people that the CE would run out.”
Priestly suggested that those who failed to pre-order the boxed version of the Collector’s Edition should go and buy the digital edition.
Personally there shouldn’t be such an outcry about the situation as, as Chris Priestly said, fans wanting it should have pre-ordered months ago instead of sitting around, pre-orders do run out.

I booked my Collectors Edition two days ago. 85 euro! Lets hope its worth it.
I pre-ordered mine when it was first announced. There was and is no excuse for being lazy.
I think the worst part is when you pre ordered the Collectors Edition from GAME on the day the ordering opened, now you can’t purchase it anywhere because the stock has all gone and GAME have once again failed.
That method is unacceptable.
I cannot be blamed for laziness in that regard, but I can and will blame the retailers and Bio-Ware for this issue. Okay I can see the net tightening as it may not only be those that were trying to re-obtain purchases but every other person that wants a copy, but now a complete absence of availability for those that ordered it in plenty of time is an outrage.
Much as we appreciate your comments Chris, I ordered my copy in June 2011 a day after CE was announced. Admittedly for the PC.
I had it on pre-order from GAME who a week ago confirmed my order, and yesterday cancelled it.
I was unable to order from Amazon at the time due to personal committments, later at 9pm, no copies to be had anywhere.
Perhaps you would care to comment on my situation and I imagine not alone in this (btw loyal Bioware/EA fan for some years and owner of DA, DAO, DA2, ME & ME2 (plus ALL DLC’s)
