Jet Set Radio Is Back

The incredible Sega Dreamcast game Jet Set Radio is back to blast some beats and cause chaos all over again.

The title will be coming to PC, PSN and Xbox 360 as a digital download this summer. It’ll boast lovely HD visuals and you can even win a chance to get your artwork in the game.

For those who are too young or just never played Jet Set Radio, or it’s sequel Jet Set Radio Future, you take on the role of a graffiti gang known as the GG’s. Your task is to reclaim your turf from rival skate gangs by ‘tagging’ billboards, walls, roads and other gangs with your gang’s graffiti, whilst also avoiding the notorious Rokkaku police.

“Every time we look at our favourite SEGA classics, the fans never fail to ask about Jet Set Radio,” said Haruki Satomi, Senior Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA of America. “The game was unlike anything else when it first came out, and was one of the first games in history to use cel-shading. More importantly, Jet Set Radio is a game that celebrates self-expression, and we’re looking forward to seeing how gamers and artists come together to leave their mark on Tokyo-to.”

It is not yet known if the game will retain all the features of the original, as some of the past Dreamcast HD updates have not, but if it does then creating and sharing your own graffiti with others will be great fun.

If you are also the creative type, and can draw and paint better than we can – we have no thumbs (which also makes playing games rather difficult…) – you should enter the Graffiti competition Sega are holding. Not only does the winner get a whole host of great goodies, but you also get your artwork featured in the HD version of Jet Set Radio! For details head on over to the competition page.

Below you can see a small selection of screens to get you in the mood. We also have a Blast From the Past about Jet Set Radio if you want more reasons to know why you should pick this beast of a game up.
