GTA V Gets Music Industry Attention

January 23rd, 2012

It seems that the music business has finally cottoned on to the immense potential of the video games market. Their first target, Grand Theft Auto V.

Thanks to the series now famous ability to switch between radio stations as and when you please, music companies have become very interested in securing some space in the myriad of audio content Rockstar plan to offer.

“Over the years, the Grand theft Auto series has provided EMI Music Publishing with a unique opportunity to get sync placements for some hidden gems in our catalogue that otherwise may not have landed in the world of video games,” EMI’s VP of music resources said in this week’s edition of Music Week.

“We look forward to working with Rockstar Games on future versions of this fantastic series and to continuing to deliver value to our songwriters in this regard.”

So it seems that the radio stations this time around will probably be loaded with contemporary music until our ears burst. Here’s hoping we don’t have to put up with the likes of chart toppers, and can instead enjoy discovering new music and groups, or indeed old ones like Kino.

I really hope that there won’t be crappy modern chart music in GTA V. That would be horrible. Hopefully I can rely on Rockstar to put good music in GTA V, they haven’t let me down yet!

Personally I’m going to miss Vladivostok FM and Electro Choc. Vladivostok because it was hilarious, and Electro Choc because it introduced me to LCD Soundsystem and Black Devil Disco Club =]

Here’s to hoping Rockstar won’t put in modern-style music. I’m tired of all this wanna-be club music. Rihanna will always be pop and she should stick to that genre, same with Bieber. Dubstep isn’t for Bieber.

The best thing about GTA IV’s radio was No Sex for Ben. I hope there are a few more gems in V. I also hope they bring back the personalised radio made up of songs on your HDD.

Ya im hoping GTAV has the creation options and classic music that San andres had.
i would be so depressed if this ended up like saints row 3 with all that crap new style rap.
PLLEASE stick to the underground and ganster rap, and the classic rock not the emo shit and the rest i dont really worry to much about.

i think overall this game is going to be HEAVY on customization. housing, appearance, vehicle modding, likely even choosing our own characters and storylines, so they better with that have custom music or i’ll be highly dissapointed.

its stupid to even think about Rockstar adding pop chart music and music that is so contemporary and mainstream. they have never really done that but have always allowed for new talent and old talent to be shown, they will continue on doing that and we will all be introduced to some great tunes as always

As usual, the user radio on the PC version is always better than what they already have =D

They should have all the classic rap from San Andreas and a custom radio station for your own music plus they should search for all the hottest songs from what ever year GTA V will be based in.

god forbid lil wayne gets tracks in this game, i will personally have to shoot him in the face point blank with a 50 caliber sniper rifle.
