Found by Japanese gaming site Andriasang, this Namco Bandai advert for Soul Calibur V has surfaced on the net. Whilst originally intended for more male oriented magazines you can see for yourself the extent it goes to. It must also be mentioned that there is an english language version of the ad going around on the web, but it hasn’t been confirmed as official yet.

Now you’ve seen the ad, what are your thoughts? For this writer, I’d have to say that as an advert it works extremely well. It certainly has gained attention and gotten people talking about the game, it’s pretty eye catching too, I mean nobody needs to see Ivy’s buxom funbags but they are out everywhere in the game anyway. The real question about this advert is, is it really needed?
Soul Calibur is a respected gaming series, and Soul Calibur V was by far the most anticipated game in the series yet! Flashing the flesh surely just cheapens the entire gaming experience, it makes people who know little about the game take it as cheap smut rather than a skillful game. Games already have a touch and go relationship with the masses (although it is improving), and this really isn’t going to get people paying attention to our favourite medium.
Sound off with your thoughts below.
