Nintendo has today signed a partnership deal with wireless service provider Boingo Wireless to bring free wi-fi access to Nintendo 3DS users at the UKs major airports.
The deal covers all terminals at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, as well as Southampton, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports.
You wont have to do anything to connect to the service hotspots, meaning that you can use the browser, eShop and SpotPass downloads with absolute ease!
“Boingo is an excellent partner for Nitendo 3DS owners in the United Kingdom due to an extensive airport Wi-Fi network,” said Nintendo UK’s assistant general manager and director of marketing Dawn Paine.
Whilst Colby Goff, Boingo’s SVP of strategy and business development, added “Nintendo is a tremendous addition to our list of strategic partners in the UK. Our networks will provide 3DS users with seamless connectivity and fast, reliable service to help them make the most of their travel downtime.”
As far as we’re concerned, this is a really smart deal for Nintendo. Many people take their handhelds with them when they go travelling and sitting around in an airport waiting for a flight is the perfect time for some Nintendo based handheld gaming, having that free and instant wi-fi connection means that players don’t have to go without the option to use the device to its full potential.
