Thanks for an incredibly in depth informative article that really was worth reading.

Too little too late, this should have been sorted by now. They had time to update the trophy list for the dlc but they can’t patch a manual save option over a 5 day span? They haven’t even given us a date and we won’t get compensated for the time and money we’ve wasted on this £40 paperweight. How many people would have bought Resistance 3 instead if they knew this game wasn’t going to work from day 1? Deep Silver really know how annoy paying customers and get away with it.

Patch 1.10 will not even update on my PS3.. Now my friend is at 1.10 and I am at th release version – We can’t play together online… You get an error that the versions dont match..

I fill your pain man. Me and four friends where over excited about this game and the online four play co op. But we are dealing with the same issues too. I am not saying at all that the game is bad in fact I flipping love and recomended any zombie fan to get this game but I much rather enjoy this game with friends as it was planned

did this trophy problem also affect everyone esle’s challenge progress? I was on like level 3 of blunt melee kills and now I have probably 20 blunt kills total. But its funny because I have the trophy for 250 blunt kills. Also, in the ps3 hard drive menu, it shows I have a game profile with 15+ hours of gameplay, by the in game meun only shows up to about 10 mins of gameplay, but with the same story progress.

I am very disappointed in this game. I’ve played it three times and every time it has crashed whilst driving a vehicle. I managed t get online once to play with friends and now the GAME LOBBY is just greyed out and friends can’t see me. I’ve played the same mission four times because it doesn’t auto save…shall I go on.

For a game that supposedly took six years to make it’s buggy, overpriced and very poor. When will developers release games that are worth the money rather than rush them out to disappoint fans. This will be the last game I buy on release date.

It sucks that the game has so many issues but at least the team is working hard to fix them. :)

  • Rodrigo Pacheco September 14, 2011 at 2:13 am Like or Dislike Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Man, having the same problems as you Chris, i’m so fucking tired of trying to play this game.

you and the the other chris are both stupid. My only issue with this game has been saving and one minor online glitch. Why don’t you stop and play one of your other games while this one gets fixed. Fuck you both you know you like the game quite playing you dont. Fuck I was on act 3 and was sent back to halfway point of act 2. Ya it sucks but I will continue to play because it’s fun as Fuck.

this game totally rocks if u noobs couldnt figure out that all u have to do is delete ur “updated” game data 2 fix all problemos…well…i feel bad for u. AWESOME GAAAME!!!

This game is just a release date disaster. Wtf kind of programming team do they have. The patch not only failed to fixed the coop problem, save issues, freezing, and just about everything else, managed to erase data. This game is a disaster on all 3 platforms. Way to screw yourselves Deep Silver. If the next patch doesn’t at least fix the save bug this paperweight is going back to gamestop.

  • zombietime September 14, 2011 at 6:23 am Like or Dislike Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Yes. delete at game utility and problem solve. I did works fine now. I had 1.1.0 and yes it was crap. but all is well when I deleted that patch.

Yeah its fixing the auto save and the trophy but doesent mention anything about its multiplayer…. considering its main selling point was its ”seemless multiplayer action” or something along them lines.
Yeah deleting the update helps but why the hell should we resort to this… it should not of happend.

It saddens me to see so many people complaining about an amazing game! Yes it has bugs, but like some people have posted there are ways around them! I have a level 20 sp char and a level 7 I’ve been using online with a friend! We played 3 hours straight last night. The game works and is bloody good! Despite that there are fixes on the way, so just be patient? Half of you wouldn’t be moaning if this was the next CoD.

Yea it totally screwed me. I was at level 32 and 70% progress last night. Now I’m level 26 and 58%! WHAT THE HELL MAN!

  • Azazel September 14, 2011 at 4:56 pm Like or Dislike Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

People that keep saying they don’t know what people are complaining about are fools. Everyone has a different problems. Some people have copies that work perfect others have copies riddled with problems. My copy keeps not saving my progress, the coop doesn’t work, and it freezes. If your copy had all the same problems you would be pissed too. I was up to about 18h of gameplay. I came back to find it back at 13h 45m. It’s complete bs.

  • Hedes September 14, 2011 at 5:39 pm Like or Dislike Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

I had the same problem over the past weekend and called deep silver twice and they said the 1.1.0 patch fixed the save problem and it didn’t! The multiplayer never works, and none of the trophies sync! I played this game for around ten hours and was reset over 3 times and never actually made any progress past level 8, as it kept resetting me to that point. It’s bull and a lot of these developers have been doing this with releasing an unfinished product and then patching it and saying I’m sorry! The console makers should be fining these companies who do that to us loyal customers. And to the dude who says he’s been playing with no problems on PS3, your lying! You don’t even have the game! The patch was released late fri and has been pulled since late Monday! So you would have had to update on sat like I did. However I have since returned my copy to Best Buy and they refunded me the entire purchase price. I also showed them a copy of a report on the 37 bugs and problems with a statement in it that said it also made some copies of the game unplayable.

Me too, never had any issues. Fun game imo

        • McNandy September 15, 2011 at 11:44 am Like or Dislike Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

I’ve never had any issues either. Strangely though, my mate who I played with over LAN on day 1 has… our co-op game has saved fine for both of us, but he is completely unable to have a single player game due to that never actually saving.

Still, absolutely brilliant game in my opinion.

Am having same issue…this is annoying. Love this game, but i cant play it w/o losing data.

i found on the ps3 that if you go into options, controls, fighting style, and toggle from digital to analog that the game will do a manual save. make sure to toggle back to digital or your controls will be different though. this is the only way i can save on ps3 and like you i lost a good 10 plus hours before this discovery. hope this helps some of you out there.

I’ve given up on Deep Silver. I purchased two (2) copies for me and a buddy and will be shipping them back to amazon tomorrow. Loved the game play especially when your inventory wouldn’t disappear, but the glitches are too numerous and have too much impact on the flow of the gameplay to justify 60 bucks a pop. Maybe in a year, when the game is fixed and is going for 25 bucks at gamestop, I’ll give it another try… maybe

Maybe because I’m in uk no new patch yet? Anyway gotta f*ck up some more zombies now cya. Gotta love the muppets who gripe and attack those who have no probs. Biggugazzu.

regardless of weather you have issues or not THERE ARE issues… who gives a donkey dick if your is working fine? Ive already beat the game myself but I had to replay so many levels it was one of the most frustrating experiences in my 20 yrs of gaming. This is unacceptable.

i agree, for a long while now the only time my game would save is if i joined someones game and played with them. if the game says cannot join due to different game versions that can be fixed by both parties deleting their game data utility for dead island. your saves will be left alone it just deletes the b.s. patch update. of course once a new playable patch is out i wouldnt use this method. hope this helps cure a bit of frustration, my post above handles issues with saving as well.

If u have save problem just go in game data utility and delete the dead island patch, and just play offline…enjoy

Been having serious problems with the game. First my trophies didnt register and I ended up doing several of the trophy requirements including “Hammer Time”. So I deleted the save data and it began from a checkpoint where I had only done 25%. Now ive updated it and lost my previous stats where I almost had 250 guns kills and explored the whole island. Now I have to start from scratch. Deciding to choose to bin the game as its caused so many problems. Does anyone know if I can get my acquired progress made through the game back

Rebuild the Database (look it up on youtube) if on ps3 it fixed mine, but don’t do it if you deleted the patch

I reserved the special edition of Dead Island and my data will not save past chapter 2 “Busy Surviving” Everyone has waited for the game to come out especially since its announcement at E3..To all the people not having problems that’s awesome at least some fans get to play no problems, but for the rest of us that have to wait to play the game till the patch comes out we are frustrated we have to keep playing the same levels all over again with no progress saved or trophies unlocked saved. The amount of money we spend on these games there should be no problems like this when they are released. Now I understand not everything is perfect and there will be bugs here and there, but not like this where the game is unplayable.

  • Ben September 16, 2011 at 2:46 pm Like or Dislike Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

You know what gets on my nerves is I read on another site if you dont install patch 1.01 the game saves not a problem.. BUT you cant play online in co-op with friends.
the patch changes the game from saying GAME SAVED to CHECKPOINT REACHED.. it’s odd

  • Oni454 September 17, 2011 at 12:04 am Like or Dislike Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

The patch can be deleted in the GAME DATA area ofyour ps3. And ive had some save issues but not as much with the online storage thing the Ps Plus has. I can play co-op with others without the patch, but its glitchy as hell on connecting to other players. It works just gotta keep tryin. I mostly do private invites only they seem to work 50% of the time. When it does connect i have played for 6 hours at atime with no issues.

To those impatient,.. instead of returning the game try TALKING to the customer service of the developing company. Send them the emails that give the issues you have had. They could of never known aboutthe online issues till the game released, since there was no online beta to test it it was a jump of chance for them.

Dead Island is a great game with MINOR issues. Thats allthe first patch was for to fix the small things in the game. Patience will get you far.

  • Nick September 17, 2011 at 9:32 am Like or Dislike Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Dead Island is a good game with MAJOR issues. The multiplayer is so glitched up that my friend and I can’t even connect to each other in a LAN game, let alone online. The autosave problems are a so bad that the developer has now said that you shouldn’t be even connected to the PS network when playing. That is not to mention the glaring frame rate problems and the screen tearing issues. This is a game that had a ton of potential but was not complete when they sent it out. Deep Silver just wanted to get it out before the other big name titles and did (what seems to many) no QA. Using customers as beta testers is a poor business strategy, making this game the biggest release mistake since Fallout NV.
It’s rather awful when you lose 10+ hours of gameplay due to a game being not ready. Contacting the developer gets you no where, heck, they havn’t even issued an apology for the consol problems (although they have for PC, and what a screw up the Steam issue was).

  • DrDarkheart September 18, 2011 at 1:27 am Like or Dislike Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

This is fucking unacceptable. How does this get through testing? Or did you guys not even test anything? All this could have been easily found by a group of testers and than fixed before the game was even out.

1.10.0 works fine for ….. have a lvl 42 account and 33hours at least and it works great but the only thing is that i spent an hour playing and i had been trying to get into a guys co-op and it disabled multiplayer so i played for like an hour then i said “ok gonna go to a checkpoint then exit the game completely then go back in to get multiplayer enabled again” did that then it when from chapter 9 to chapter 6 but thats the only time it ever happened

This game also needs a cancel quest option, There are countless vids on the internet (including an ign editor) of invisible walls, glitched survivors and the situation i’m in with Ope in the jungle who keeps getting owned on a specific checkpoint by a thug, 3 infected 5 walkers and a butcher and because the retry option doesn’t give you back your ammo there is no way you can get out of this situation. Terrible Game Design !!!

  • Brent September 18, 2011 at 7:51 am Like or Dislike Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Really not that big of an issue, it’s a game not a parachute, won’t kill you if it doesn’t work right the first time. Besides the overblown issues that they’ve had, the game is awesome. Really well done I think.

I was having problem when I dl the patch. Everytime I did a side quest and it saved and when I reload it I had to do the side quest again. I was like I already did this. But I deleted the patch and it was saving fine. But it still glitchy and sometime when I play with a friend. My friend game freezes. This is happening to both console. My cousin has the 360 verison and it having the same problem as the ps3.

Sold my game, cba with this joke. I’ll just rebuy it in 6 months when all the problems are sorted and its dirt cheap on ebay, I recommend you do the same. if your in the uk CeX gives you £31 cash for it or £33 store credit. You blew it Deep Silver/Techland. Good luck guys hope the patch resolves all the issues

but it keeps on crashing at my ps3
and some of my friends have the same problem
so i hope there is gonna be a good update very soon
because im getting tired of playing the same missions over and over again

All of this loss of progress people are experience can be avoided on most part by paying attention for the radioactive symbol in top right of screen when checkpoint appears. i had to complete act1 3 times when i began and am still happy to continue to play this game if it does not save. jus quit n play again. sure its not ideal but i only lose 10/15mins worth ratger than chapters or acts.

  • Billy September 21, 2011 at 12:16 pm Like or Dislike Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

Where do i begin…. i was 56 hours into the game and completed 60 percent of the overall main storyline but on sunday i got “ERROR – Your saved game appears to be corrupted!!, OK”. Yeah i guess it is “ok”, thats all i need to say really…

The following are the incredibly frustrating bugs etc that ive encountered:

    - If you manage to buy the Special Edition version of the game, you MUST use either one of the codes before you start a new game. I unfortunately used the code about 15 hours into the game and it decided to delete about 8 hours worth of gameplay… it knocked me down from rank 13 to rank 9 and as far as the game was concerned i hadnt explored a majority of the island, or done most of the side or main quests. One thing to also note is that the bottom code i got in the game case wasnt useable because the arena DLC isnt in the PS Store yet for downloading, so dont bin the bit of card thinking the second code is duff or that just one code is used for the “chainsaw and arena” because thats incorrect, so keep the unused second code in a safe place till the arena DLC is available.
    - There is no manual save option, the game decides to save whenever it feels like it(or doesnt), at complete random. It does checkpoints instead, so if you’re running about killing zombies and collecting weapons you must make sure that you start some kind of quest otherwise the game wont save anything that you have done. This i find absolutely ridiculous and really needs addressing in a patch. I have now had three seperate occasions where i have had to redo about 8 hours of gameplay and quests because the game hasnt saved correctly, hence the reason why it took me 56 hours just to get through 60% of the game.
Despite me seeing the red biohazard symbol blink numerous times in the top right hand corner as well as “checkpoint” in the bottom left when starting and finishing quests. It happened to me again last night, i had done all the side quests in the town apart from one and got a checkpoint and save inside a shop when i was asked to spread the word of a nun over the tannoy system. So i made sure i had the currently active quest selected on the quest screen, then quit the game correctly with the triangle button after pressing start, crossed my fingers and prayed for it to save. I then chose “continue” on the main screen. And voila i started out outside the shop that i had saved the game. So i thought awesome, i wont lose the 5 hours of gameplay from today and can have a laugh with my lower rank mate back on the island in the cooperative mode. So i asked him for an invite, eventually got into his game and played for a good two hours (until his console froze when we were in a car). So we both restarted the games and while i was waiting for him i decided to select continue on my own game, and guess what, it dumped me back outside the church, with a lower rank, all my garbage weapons and inventory that i had about 5 hours previously….i nearly threw the console out the window.

So despite definately making sure that it had saved my game and even loaded it up correctly before trying multiplayer, it still managed to dig up and use an incredibly old save game. I mean wtf, if this seriously happens again im refusing to play it until Sony pull their finger out and agree to the patch that actually came out on the games release date. My mate advised me that its Sony policy to wait and test a patch for 3 weeks before they can agree and make it available to a game over their network.

    - When you load a game back up, providing you select a specific quest it should put you right next to the person who gave you your currently active quest. Rather than saving you where you quit the game you will often find yourself miles away from where you are meant to be, again this is ridiculous and badly thought out. So when you are about to quit your game you must select one of your active quests to tell the game where you want to begin when you load the game back up, nowhere does it explain this farce in the manual…

So, when you are about to quit a game, you must first select an active quest that you have in your list, in order to tell the game where you want to spawn when you choose to “continue”. So lets say you want to resume your game in the Lighthouse, you would select a quest that was given to you in there, and that is where you will appear. You usually appear stood right next to the person that gave you the quest in the first place. What were they smoking when they thought up this insanity? Nowhere in the manual does it explain how the game determines your load position, or even how it saves and creates checkpoints, absolutely ridiculous..

    - You can accept quests off people and they will tell you something like “go investigate the crashed aircraft in the jungle”. Except no waypoints will appear on your map and you are left to run around like a clueless idiot for hours scouring the island, only to find that your objective will only actually appear when you have progressed so far with the main storyline! You’ll know what i mean when you are asked to find the downed passnger jet, its just ridiculous. I mean why give you the quest if you cant actually do anything about it! The same goes for another mission called “Nighthawk” where you are supposed to go investigate a crashed Blackhawk helicopter on a beach. Again, nothing appears on the map as to what you are supposed to do or where you are supposed to go, you can only come across the helicopter after you have left the hotel car park with the armoured vehicle (Thats one of the main missions rather than a side quest).

    - During some quests you have to find things like alcohol, water, champaigne etc in order to get something back in return. But lets say you have collected 20 bottles of water and just want to hand them over to the quest giver, you cant. You have to go through the tedium of handing over every single bottle on its own, with the character repeating the same conversation or thanks speech over and over again, the same goes for selling items in a shop, instead of being able to press a “plus” button or a “select all” option, you can only sell items one by one, just ridiculous and could easily be patched.

    - When the other AI characters are talking to you in cut-scenes or in general conversation they talk to you as if you have more than one person with you, you will first notice this when you start talking to the guy called Sinamoi at the life guard tower. After a while you start thinking you’ve got the Predator stealthed up running about with you and that everyone apart from yourself can see him, although hes on vacation and does absolutely nothing to help you… So people will come out with stuff like “Thank you for your help friends” and “id like to thank you all for your help”, tools. The thing that really twisted my melon was when you do manage to go investigate the crashed helicopter and the cut-scene has the other 3 characters with you! I mean what is all that about? Theres just no consistency.

I reckon back in early development of the game, the developers thought that it would be a good idea to have the 3 other characters running around with you as part of a 4 person team, same sort of crack as Left 4 Dead. So all the voices etc were recorded in early development then later on in the games limbo, some genious had the great idea of making it a single player campaign with no AI helpers, so they sacked off the idea of having 3 other AI characters running about with you but left in conversations that referred to multiple people. Anyways i reckon thats whats happened and it makes sense, really shoddy though.
    - All the AI characters are completely wooden and unlikeable, when you walk near them they repeat the same things over and over again. When you go speak to people to trade weapons or walk past people that have sent you out on wild goose-chases they will repeatedly ask you for your progress. Like an annoying woman that constantly moans at you about not being able to find the plane because its “not a needle in a haystack”, even though you dont have access to the jungle so wont be able to find the plane, stupid woman, she shouldnt have been able to give you the quest in the first place! And she asks you the same thing within the space of 15 seconds, shes either got Altzeimers or thinks you can travel around at the speed of sound. Then theres a guy that nags you for cans of food asking if you have found any more in the space of 10 seconds of talking to him…. and a woman that needs water all the time, handing over 30+ bottles of water to her and her moaning that her muscles were “still cramping up”, and as you walk away she starts moaning again, asking if you’ve found any more water…again this garbage is patchable, why not shut them all up for a few minutes or reset them when you leave the building you are currently in, so they only speak to you when you actually leave and then return?

    - Although you have full access to the island and can go anywhere, you often find yourself tripping over quests and missions that you should have only found by begining other quests. For example i parked a car next to a fence and was able to jump over to it(killing mself in the process after being allowed to open the driver car door and getting crushed agaisnt the fence when i was out…), then i smash through a door and fixed my weapons, only to find that when i tried to leave the building there was an invisible barrier blocking the way out.. I couldnt even kill myself so i had to quit the game. It might have been a good idea if the developers put an invisible wall round the whole building not just its front door, again this is something ridiculous and needs patching.

    - Every time you go up in rank you unlock a skill point that you can use in 1 of 3 skill trees. What it doesnt explain anywhere at all in the game or in the manual is that you must allocate 3 points to any of the sub options of the skill tree in order to go further down. I didnt realise this until a mate pointed it out, so ive wasted valuable skill points in skills that i didnt even want because i thought you needed one skill point in each sub skill in order to move down, but no, as long as you have allocated 3 skill points to any skill on a skill level then you can move down..

    - Never EVER throw your valuable weapons at the zombies, especially to explode gas canisters! I threw a $6000 orange (legendary) fighting staff at one of them because there was a gas cannister nearby because all my weapons were almost broken but after the gas canister exploded, the weapon simply vanished. All the tat that id thrown at them previously was left laying on the floor but no, not the “legendary” weapon, so yeah that was a massive waste of money and incredibly frustrating, and its not like you can reload a save game, so you’re left well and truly shafted, its not like you can go and buy a decent weapon, theyre completely pot luck when they appear in “shops” (people trading, not actually shops).

    - Try not to leave your decent equipment with the woman in the church (mechanics daughter). I spent close to $30,000.00 and a lot of time crafting “deo-bombs” to keep me going for the rest of the game, but when i dumped the bombs in her inventory, went on a quest and came back to her they had all completely vanished… this bug of randomly disapearing items and equipment is very common with a lot of users and a bit of a kick in the nuts, i hate wasting time and losing favourite weapons.

    - Despite all the hype of the downloadable chainsaw that everyone was banging on about, it turned out to be absolute garbage and i have weak machetes that deal more damage, despite it being fully upgraded. Its not even a chainsaw. Before you can even think about building the “Bleeding Bat” (rotating blade stuck on the end of a baseball bat…)you must first find the necessary parts to build it. And no, you cant have access to the weapon straight away despite all the hype, lies and misconception on the internet before the games release, that was all bull too.

You have to find the numerous parts with complete pot-luck in cupboards, locked boxes, on shelves etc before you can even think about building the “bleeding bat”, it doesnt just appear in your inventory like everyone said it would when you started a new game. You need a decent quality baseball bat, buzz saw, battery, wires, tape etc and then you have to craft it all together which costs cash. And if you dont use a well built baseball bat then you’re only going to get a few swings out of it and its knackered, you have to go back to a workbench and fix it again. Despite me find a durable “big baseball bat” i only get about 20 kills out of it then its back to the workbench for costly repairs. You see, the weapons that you build are only as effective as the base weapon you find, so if you use a weak or flimsy baseball bat its hardly going to last any time at all. This was very misleading and i think a lot of people like myself will be dissapointed with this weapon. I dont even use mine anymore because its completely inaffective against the zombies. They should have said on the box that you get a blueprint to eventually construct the weapon, but no, that would be too much to ask for.

The arena downloadable content isnt available to download until 7 weeks after the games release. The only mention of it in the game is in the very west of the island where you get to a large tunnel filled with rubble and on the left is a “portal” door that is currently locked but states “travel to arena”. Other than that theres no explanation of what you are meant to do with the DLC. I wish id have saved 9 quid and just bought the £[] normal version, really not worth the money.
    - The sound often cuts out and makes weird popping noises, it sounds as though the audio files are corrupt. You’d recognise the same kind of weird high pitched pops if you tried to play a corrupt mp3 file on your computer or audio player.

    - There are cutscenes in the game that dont actually makes sense to your actions in the game. For example some of the later cutscenes in the town show your character working with people that you’ve never even met, if you didnt bother doing the sidequests they were involved in. When the lead developer was interviewed online he said that your actions would affect the whole world around you, the way he hyped it up sounded like the game would be similar to Heavy Rain, now thats an impressive and clever game. In reality, it doesnt matter what you do or dont do in this game, you can accept all the side quests and main one at the same time, do some or none at all and all the AI charcacters will still treat you exactly the same, the only hostiles charcters are obviously the zombies and humans that have taken over the town etc due to the lack of law, its not like you can do anything to get on anybodies good or bad side, so that was all lies too…

    - You cant backup the saved game onto an external hard drive, i mean why not for gods sake? if im investing more than 41 hours into a game i want to make sure its going to be safe if anything happens to the console. Why couldnt they have done what other developers have done and lock the saved games to unique users so that they cant be used by other people! Dont just disallow backing up of the saved game altogether, insane.

I cant think of anything else that really bothers me other than the above, in particular the ludicrous hit and miss save game system, but despite the game being a huge bug infested mess, its enjoyable lopping of limbs but when the game doesnt save your progress a majority of the time and you’ve got weapons vanishing from the ground in front of your eyes and even from your inventory, then it puts a bit of a downer on the whole experience.

I’d say its not worth buying in its current state, its completely broken, i can see a lot of people trading this in after only a few hours because of the many frustrating bugs ive mentioned.

They shouldnt treat us like beta testers, they should test the game thoroughly before its release, i dont care if they had deadlines to meet, the saved game issue is completely game-breaking and shouldnt have been released in its current state.

So in conclusion, after wasting 56 hours and being rewarded with a corrupt saved game, i wouldnt recommend buying this garbage just yet. Wait a month or so until they pull their finger out and patch everything that is save game related. They are highly aware of the duff save game (or lack of) function but Sony wont approve the patch.

A work around for the lack of the game saving is to completely log out of the PlayStation network, switch off auto sign in. Load the game up and choose to play the game single player only, with absolutely no cooperative mode enabled. This is the cause for the dodgy save issues, its something to do with always being connected to their servers, people that play this completely offline on their own havent had any save issues. So although this is a cooperative game for up to 4, its currently unplayable if you expect to be able to continue from where you left off with the weapons and items you had.

I just hope my above comments and important notes help people out in case you also experience the same issues as what i did, im sure many people will be smashing things up in the house regarding the save game function, in particular the thing with the quests and waypoints not appearing on the map.

If you’re reading this Techland and Deep Silver, pull your fingers out and allow manual or forced saved games! sack off the checkpoints because they dont even work. Oh yeah and allow the backing up of the saved game onto an external hard drive or allow for multiple saves because if anything happens to my save or i lose all my progress again i’ll bycott the game.

A lot of people feel exactly as i do and the only reason they havent typed up a wall of text like this is because there are too many bugs to even type about, except ive got OCD and thought i do it on behalf of all PS3 users having the same issues as myself.

Don’t get to excited. I’m on xbox an my game worked fine until the first patch. I now have 2 characters that I can’t load or system freeze up. Wish I could undo patch. Now I have to wait till ps3 an then pc get their patch till they fix xbox. Was told by deepsliver to play offline for now till next patch. That 3 weeks or more. Not being able to play this game with my friends, who noone has this problem but me. Should have never beat the game or gone to prison. That’s the only difference. Beat it once on my game then joined friends game and beat it. After that can’t load.

I have been playing on 360 and I’ve got about 34 hours of gameplay on a SINGLE player campaign… and now BANG! My saved game appears to be corrupted bullsh*t. This is ridiculous- I haven’t even been connected xbox live!!

Watched Todd play Skyrim for quite a while. Had no idea he was playing PS3 version until he held up controller. So PS3 owners, don’t fret.

I agree with all the complaints posted and many of which are well said. Being a future Dev myself I’ve got to admit, I think that Deep Silver and/or Techland are handling this VERY poorly. There should have been more QA (Quality Assurance – testing for bugs etc.) and I’m disappointed that Sony gave the approval of a game that has this many problems. Where is the assurance that we are getting a quality game? I don’t expect something to be completely bug free (which would be great) but allowing a game to be released to this degree and expect consumers to just “Wait for a patch”, “we’re working on it”. Sounds like something that should’ve been addressed prior to release.
Speaking on consumers, how can a company put out such a poor product and expect everyone to just deal with it? If Deep Silver or Techland want to get consumers back they need to give some sort of kick back for this major inconvenience. If I was in charge I would give the next DLC free to ALL and figure out some sort of other way to compensate those that reserved the game or visa versa. Because this is ridiculous. Who puts out a broken or poor product. Especially for $60 (or what not) and not everyone has money to throw around I’m sure. I hear a lot of people yelling saying “wait for patch, stop complaining”. Consumers have a right to complain. Would anyone purchase a car knowing the brakes are faulty? oh no wait till the company figures out a way to adjust the brakes. Don’t drive the car until then. Might not be a good analogy but regardless its ridiculous to tell people not to complain. Do something to make it up to your customers or forever lose your following and see sales decline when your name is attached to a game.

P.S. I personally find it ridiculous that we are sold products and have NO WAY of acquiring a refund. Once you buy the game you’re stuck with it or you can give it back at a loss of the cost. If there was a way to get my money back from a company that asks me to “stop its a game” then I would have returned this game after the first week.

This could have been one of the greatest games of the genre, unfortunately it’s a broken mess that I’ve already traded in after losing my saved-game for the third time. I got 18$ for it and bought Dead Space instead, i don’t regret this decision one bit.

I expected a little unpredictability, moral choices, interaction.. instead i was subjected to broken version of brain-bread. It was like chasing a rotten carrot for 50 hours.

I just purchased this game 2 days ago, and this should not had been released. I have one of best computers and game is keep crashing every 15min to desktop. I’ve updated new graphic driver, turned off dual monitor, and did everything I could to make it work, but it just keeps crashing. I want to get refund this piece of shit. Seriously, this is one of worst releases I’ve ever played.

Not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but after the “patch”, I have now started losing my weapons. I have open slots and when I try to pick up a weapon, it will drop my current one and leave another empty slot and not pick up the new one. Being quite a ways into the game, this is pretty annoying.
