I’m torn on the issue of HD remixes. For instance a game like Zone of the Enders or Sly Cooper I think its worth it because those games are hard to get hold of now, unless you go out and search for them, so for many its a convenient and improved way to get a hold and experience some fantastic gaming. The series of PSP HD PS3 remakes are also good for those who dont own PSP’s and want to play some of the games on the system that are really good, such as a console Monster Hunter with all the production value of a PSP MH. Ico and SotC are also nice games to have just because SotC is an amazing game visually and continually fun to go away and play again and again.
However the Tomb Raider one really irritated me as 2 of the 3 games on there are on the PS3 anyway, and the first game in the lot is on the 360 as a HD game…
In the end most of the games are there for the convienience of the consumer. Its a major cash in for the companies involved too, and a way for new companies to cut their teeth on IPs, such as Sanzaru getting to make Sly 4 after proving themselves on the fantastic Sly Collection. I don’t think they should promote them like big new releases like Sony did at E3, however I don’t think its something we should be trying to shun away as something that isn’t worth having as they are really great contributions and reminders of past games that many wont be able to play anymore.
I actually like the idea of HD remakes and collections.
They are a win win for everyone.
Dev’s/Pulishers get to make more money to put into new titless ansd gamers get to ‘collect’ their greatest memories in the form of HD, and the new current gen crop of gamers get to experience the awesomeness they missed out on before. I’ve played most of the remakes except for zone of the enders, slinter cell trilogy, and the sly collection.
I believe that consoles and the tech get old, but games do not
I’m gonna download this ASAP, cant wait.
