Today the first gameplay footage of Kratos in Mortal Kombat (only available on the PS3 version) has been uncovered via an extended cut of the trailer shown at the end of the demo, which was released on the PSN last week.

The trailer only gives a glimpse of what Kratos will play like, but it does showcase some of his moves using signature weapons from God of War III, such as the Chains of Exile, the Bow of Apollo, Hermes boots (for dash attacks) and the Blade of Olympus, which is used to devastating effect in a God of War style quick time event attack.

According to Ed Boon, the series creator, Kratos has the largest array of weapons of any character in the game, so expect to see other God of War III weapons such as the Nemean Cestus and Helios’ Head make an appearance in Kratos’ arsenal.

As well as this first look at Kratos, the trailer also gives a quick look at the as of yet unannounced King of the Hill online mode.

I’m really looking forward to testing out Kratos in the game and seeing just how brutal his fatalities are…hopefully they can live up to his eye gouging, head ripping, face pummeling antics in God of War III.

Mortal Kombat is scheduled for release on April 19th.
