So on Friday Valve reportedly confirmed what every Orange Box fanboy had been dreaming of; a sequel to the ingenious Portal. For those of you who have not yet experienced the amazing wonder of mind bending, 3D spacial awareness, puzzles that make up Portal then you need to go down to your local game shop and purchase yourself a copy, or alternatively whip up xbox live or steam and buy Portal: Still Alive for a reasonable cost.

In Portal 2 “Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game.” and according to a Gamestop pre-order pagePortal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers.” What is most intriguing about Portal 2′s announcement is that it is scheduled for a release ‘this holiday season’ and will be released on ‘PC, Xbox 360 and Mac’. This confirms the rumours of last week, that were floating about, talking of the Steam Client, with many games already converted to work on Macs, being released later this year. This rumour came about because of a vigilant Valve forum member noticing OSX code in the client, later the same week Valve released suspicious images and adverts hinting at a Mac release. All I can say, as I am a Mac user (I know not a popular front to be on when also a gamer) I can’t wait to start playing some more Steam based games as since I made the switch my PC gaming has just practically ceased to exist.

Wohoo! water based stuff, physics problems, and all kinds of other things. Sounds great!

I liked the prospect of coop, and the larger game. Portal was great in itself, and felt good for the size I expected, but a sequel would definitely have to be bigger and better.
Hmm, I wonder if the co-op is going to end up like Head over Heels.
    Now *that* takes me back.
