Alien Zombie Death is part of the PS3/PSP Mini’s range and a fun little title made by PomPom.
- Graphics: 4/5
On the PS3 the graphics aren’t bad! It’s very colourful and bright, but on the PSP is where the game really shines (as most minis do), you’ll be amazed and hypnotised by the colours and not a flaw in sight.
- Gameplay: 4/5
The game acts like a platformer; you jump up or down to the next platform, shooting any crazy creatures that come at you. There are a number of pick-ups along the way to help you on this dangerous mission. They come in the form of a missile launcher, blue lazer, scatter gun, and health, though they wear off after a very short time which can be a waste when hoards of enemies come charging after you as soon as this happens. You will also come across obstacles such as spinning razor blades, electrified floors, and a huge electrified spinning circle in the middle of the level.
Frankly the controls are horrible; you use the triangle button to go up and the cross to go down, circle is fire right and square is fire left. I know it doesn’t sound so bad, but it is! Up and down on the D-Pad also take you up or down the platforms so it can get really confusing when hordes of enemies come flying at you! On the PSP this is made even worse by using the analogue stick, one second you’ll be fighting to keep your character alive, next thing you know you’ll be jumping down a platform and getting killed, it can be very irritating indeed!
- Summary:
To sum up Alien Zombie Death: it is a fun little title and if not for the control issues it would have been a lot better, it’s a game just to pick up and play.
